23rd February 2016 – Wyred Up networking event – The Venue, Cleveleys
The first event of the 2016 calendar took place in Cleveleys at ‘The Venue’ in the recently refurbished La Mezzaluna room which displays spectacular views of the regenerated seafront.
This event had a two pronged approach:
The first approach was to invite local suppliers from Wyre within a Framework Agreement for Reactive Repairs and Maintenance for minor works. Wyre Council’s Asset Management and Procurement team were in attendance with constructionline (UK's leading procurement and supply chain management service) to get local businesses signed-up on the CHEST for potential work opportunities with the council.
The second approach was to make local businesses aware of the opportunities at Hillhouse International Business Park (site managed by NPL Estates) – confirmed as one of the two new Enterprise Zones in Lancashire (the other being Blackpool Airport). Rob Green and Mark Gillingham from the Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre Economic Development Company (BFWEDC) gave an insightful presentation to explain all about Enterprise zone status on the site. They also explained the benefits including extended Business Rates Relief and Enhanced Capital Allowances for businesses moving into the area and onto the specified sites. For more information, please visit the BFWEDC’s website, and news article here.
Jane Littlewood from ‘The Rabbit Patch’ (who helped to design our website!), also gave an visual presentation about being 23 years in business and how the way we market ourselves has changed over the years.
